We are going to keep this plain and simple everyone! Final Mock Draft is here and we are ready to roll y'all!
1. Cleveland Browns
PICK: Sam Darnold, QB, USC
After some back and forth on this pick, I have finally decided the Josh Allen love is all a ploy. Darnold will be the guy here with the 1st overall selection. Not bad for the 3rd best QB in the class.
2. New York Giants
PICK: Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
With Darnold off the board and the love the Giants have shown for Mr. Barkley, he is the guy here. In their eyes, they get a true 3 down workhorse to change this teams identity. Eli Manning is a happy camper and may prolong his career.
3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)
PICK: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
There has not been one guy that has been more attached to a team than Baker Mayfield and the Jets. Mayfield has one of the best completion percentages for their career in college football history. Mayfield is a true winner and reminds me a lot of the situation Deshaun Watson was in this last year. Mayfield is a proven winner, but did he have to much help around him? I don't think so, and i think this a perfect spot for him.
4. Cleveland Browns (from Houston Texans)
PICK: Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State
Word on the street is that the Browns will run their card up to the podium to select either Chubb or Barkley if either are there. Chubb is available, but again I think the Browns do the Browns and go with the best cover corner in the draft with Ward. Ward is an elite guy on the outside, even though he is slightly undersized.
5. Denver Broncos
PICK: Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State
The Broncos are conning everyone into believing they are taking a QB. The draft gods have answered John Elway’s wishes and decided to let Chubb slide down the board to them. Chubb is an elite Edge rusher who can get after the QB and play every down. Broncos will ultimately decide NOT to trade down here as they were not getting as much as they wanted in their offers.
6. ***TRADE***Buffalo Bills (from Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets))
PICK: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
The Bills trade up from pick 12 to pick 6 with the Colts to land their guy of the future in Allen. Allen is a huge fan of Billsmafia and soon they will be a fan of his. Allen is a strong armed kid who could be the boom or bust pick of the QBs.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
PICK: Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
We all know the secondary for the Bucs is the most pressing need. But, they also have issue with their OL and adding “THE BEST” lineman regardless of it being guard, makes their team that much better. Heck, Nelson may even be the best player in the whole draft talent wise. Hell, we drafted a kicker in the 2nd round before why not a OG at 7 overall.
8. Chicago Bears
PICK: Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia
The Bears are upset that they do not get Nelson, but they decide to go the way they should and go defense. They get one of the best ILB in the draft in Smith. Smith is a monster and will pair nicely with the Floyd. Bear fans can rejoice!
9. San Francisco 49ers
PICK: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
With the unfortunate events surrounding LB Rueben Foster, the pick here for the 49ers should be LB. I am going to go off the cuff and select another player I believe they secretly covet and that is OT Mike McGlinchey. He can be the new right tackle and maybe left tackle down the road for the 49ers to protect Jimmy G.
10. ***TRADE***Arizona Cardinals (from Oakland Raiders)
PICK: Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
The Cards move up here in this mock and lock up their QB of the future. I am not sold on Bradford or Glennon as the starter and neither are the Cards. With, possibly the best QB in the draft, Rosen gives the Cards a new QB the team can pair with Johnson running out of the backfield.
11. Miami Dolphins
PICK: Vita Vea, DT, Washington
The Dolphins miss out on a QB and instead of overreaching on another, they decide to go with a guy to replace Suh. Vea is a beast in the trenches and can outwork most interior linemen. One big thing I took away from his tape is he does tend to do arm tackles and that may have worked in college but that needs to be fixed that the next level.
12. ***TRADE***Colts (from Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals))
PICK: Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech
The Colts basically had all the pieces fall into place here for them and they get the guy they probably would have taken at 6. With Edmonds you get a guy that can play all over the field and a starter from day 1.
13. Washington Redskins
PICK: Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama
This is a pick that I have gone back and forth with for quite some time. They can take a DT that can shore up their defense or they can take a playmaker in the secondary. With the loss of Fuller in the offseason and not signing Breeland they will end up drafting one of the most athletically gifted prospects in Minkah Fitzpatrick. Minkah is a guy that can play safety and outside corner but is best as a slot corner. He will be a welcomed addition to the Redskins secondary.
14. Green Bay Packers
PICK: Derwin James, S, Florida State
I know many people have Joshua Jackson going to the Packers, but I think they may have a higher grade on Derwin James. The Packers need help all over the secondary and adding James with HaHa in the secondary would be huge for the defense.
15. ***TRADE***Oakland Raiders (from Arizona Cardinals)
PICK: Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville
The Raiders traded down earlier and take the biggest need with a corner. What corner you ask? Josh Jackson? NO...Jaire Alexander boys and girls. Alexander will be last years Adoree Jackson when he got drafted much higher than we all thought he was going to. Alexander may be the best slot corner, behind Minkah, in the draft with the ability to play on the outside.
16. Baltimore Ravens
PICK: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville
Ravens have a lot of needs and many people have WR slotted to them. I do not though and I am going with QB Lamar Jackson. Ravens could cut Flacco in 2019 and save a big chunk of money and then roll with Jackson. Ravens have offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and assistant head coach Greg Roman who have done their work with athletically gifted QB's. They have created packages and an offense around guys like Vick and Kaepernick. Jackson is one of the most electrifying QB's that we have ever seen and could be a huge star in the NFL.
17. Los Angeles Chargers
PICK: Connor Williams, OT, Texas
The Chargers can add one of the best OT in this draft in Williams. Yes, I know hes getting comps for OG because of his “short arms.” Regardless of the reports on his diffinciecies, hes still one of the best tackles in the draft. Add him him Pouncey, Feeney and Lamp...That is an offensive line that can protect Phillip Rivers.
18. Seattle Seahawks
PICK: Harold Landry, EDGE, Boston College
The Seahawks need to do something with this team. Their best bet is to trade down and get as many picks as possible, but I have them unable to make a trade that makes sense. They end up going with Harold Landry and it's actually quite a steal of a pick.He is someone that can be the new face of the Seattle defense.
19. Dallas Cowboys
PICK: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State
Most people will have a WR here to the Cowboys with the release of Dez Bryant, but I think they have defense in mind. They want to move Lee outside and LVE would be a perfect replacement for the inside. LVE would be their Urlacher of the future.
20. Detroit Lions
PICK: Marcus Davenport, EDGE, Texas-San Antonio
ZIggy Ansah just signed his tender with the Lions but they could add another pass rusher on that defense. Patricia will want to make a statement with his first pick as head coach and will get his guy. He can mold Davenport into the type of player that he can be. He has a super high ceiling.
21. Cincinnati Bengals (from Buffalo Bills)
PICK: Isaiah Wynn, OG, Georgia
The Bengals need a lot of help on the offensive and defensive side. They decide here, at this pick, to get help at the OG position. Wynn is the 2nd best OG behind Nelson. He is a guy that can help open holes for Joe Mixon.
22. *TRADE* Colts (from Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs))
PICK: Joshua Jackson, CB, Iowa
Colts go back to back picks on defense here and go with a long cover corner. He does have issues with top end speed and press coverage. Jackson is a ball hawk and Big Dick Ballard covets ballhawks. See Malik Hooker from 2017.
23. New England Patriots (from Los Angeles Rams)
PICK: Rashaan Evans, ILB, Georgia
OL is a need for the Patriots but there isn’t really anyone here worth that pick in my opinion. The Patriots also need help at the linebacker spot and go with Evans. Evans will fit right into the patriots mold of thing for that defense.
24. Carolina Panthers
PICK: Justin Reid, S, Stanford
Panthers need help at the Safety position and Reid is creeping up boards. Reid has the skills to play all over the field and cover the TE and RB running out of the backfield.
25. Tennessee Titans
PICK: Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan
The Titans need some pass rushers and someone that can play the DT spot. Hurst is a burly individual that can play all over the defensive front. He can play any position on that DL and would be an upgrade immediately.
26. Atlanta Falcons
PICK: Taven Bryan, DT, Florida
Poe is gone and they need a player to replace him. There are two DTs here that make sense but I am going with the kid out of Florida. Taven Bryan is not getting the love that he should be during this draft season, but he will be a perfect fit for Atlanta.
27. New Orleans Saints
PICK: Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama
The Saints kind of addressed WR in the offseason with signing Cam Meredith away from the Bears, but it is still very much a need as well as TE. I think they go with a WR here and it will most likely be Calvin Ridley. Ridley is the best route runner in the class, but not the most athletic.
28. Pittsburgh Steelers
PICK: Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas
With all of the top ILB gone, the Steelers need to regroup and think what makes sense here. Well, the Steelers panic here and still take a LB regardless if they should have or not. They reach and reach hard with Malik Jefferson. Jefferson is a freak and could be a huge addition to the Steeler but may be a reach at this spot. This is what happens when teams freak out.
29. Jacksonville Jaguars
PICK: Coutland Sutton, WR, SMU
Sutton is a huge WR with some big game possibilities. Sutton can go up and get the ball in the open field. Jacksonville lost AR15 in the offseason and Sutton would be a great replacement.
30. Minnesota Vikings
PICK: Billy Price, OG/C, Ohio State
Price was talked about being one of the best OG’s in the class, then he tore his pec at the combine. I think Price is still too good to pass up and would help protect Cousins. Reports are that he is progressing well and is ahead of schedule.
31. New England Patriots
PICK: Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA
Solder is gone and they need a replacement plain and simple. They go with Miller here who is an athletic freak that tested out of his mind at the combine. Miller can be the new tackle of the future for the Pats.
32. ***TRADE*** Miami Dolphins (from Philadelphia Eagles)
PICK: Mason Rudolph, QB, OSU
The Dolphins somehow get back into the first round to get their QB of the future. Mason is one of the best QBs that can run the RPO and that may be where the Dolphins turn towards. Rudolph would be a great addition to pair up with QB guru Adam Gase.
